Bitcoin Savings Plan Calculator

With DCA (Dollar-Cost Averaging), a fixed amount is invested at regular intervals. A historical calculator can show how such a savings plan would have developed over past periods. It is a learning tool, not a forecast or buying recommendation.

The calculator temporarily builds a BTC/EUR reference series from historical BTC/USD daily closes and USD/EUR reference rates. History is loaded when the tool opens and cached locally in the browser. This test solution can be replaced once a final data source is agreed.

Self-custody Bitcoin

With self-custody, you control the private keys to your bitcoin yourself instead of leaving them permanently with an exchange or another custodian. A hardware wallet is a dedicated device that separates those keys from an everyday computer or smartphone and lets you confirm transactions on the device itself.

BitBox is one concrete example of a hardware wallet. Regardless of the manufacturer, important habits remain the same: verify receiving addresses and transaction details on the device, secure the recovery seed carefully, and never share it with third parties.

Secure the recovery seed physically

The recovery seed is the backup that can restore a wallet if the device is lost or damaged. Anyone who knows those words may be able to access the associated bitcoin. It should therefore be kept offline, secret, and separate from the wallet device itself.

A metal backup can provide additional resistance compared with paper against fire, water, and long-term physical deterioration. Steelwallet is one concrete example of this type of backup. Photos, cloud storage, or unprotected digital copies are not a good way to improve seed security.

Buy Bitcoin

Buying Bitcoin means exchanging euros or another fiat currency for bitcoin. A provider handles the process between payment, the purchase price, and delivery. For beginners, it is important to distinguish between buying bitcoin through a provider and subsequently taking self-custody of those bitcoin.

Coinfinity is one concrete example of a provider for buying and selling Bitcoin. Before using any provider, check the current price, fees, identity requirements, withdrawal options, and applicable terms directly with that provider.

Observe the Bitcoin network

In the Bitcoin network, transactions that have not yet been confirmed first wait in the mempool. Miners select transactions from it for new blocks. Demand for limited block space therefore affects the fee level that may be appropriate for faster confirmation.

mempool.space makes these processes visible: current blocks, waiting transactions, fee levels, and individual transactions can all be observed. This makes concepts such as mempool, block space, confirmation, and sat/vB easier to understand using real network data.

Observe the Bitcoin price

The Bitcoin price is not set by a central authority. It forms continuously through supply and demand across different markets and can therefore vary slightly between trading venues.

Google Finance shows BTC/EUR in a reduced overview with the current price and its development across different time periods. The current Bitcoin price is a snapshot of the market.
